Attorney, Heath S. Berger, is a resident of Long Island who has lived and practiced law on Long Island for approximately twenty five years. Mr. Berger has been a partner with the firm and its predecessor firms for over twenty years and has helped to establish Berger, Fischoff, Shumer, Wexler & Goodman, LLP., as one of the premier divorce mediation law firms on Long Island.
Mr. Berger is one of two partners who head the firm’s matrimonial and family law practice. In this role, he regularly engages in uncontested and contested divorce proceedings and handles other aspects of matrimonial and family law, including custody, visitation support and related issues. Mr. Berger’s matrimonial and family law cases span the spectrum from the most basic to multimillion dollar asset litigations.
Mr. Berger is proud of the steps the firm has taken in adding divorce mediation as a large focus of the matrimonial and family law practice, feeling strongly that divorce mediation affords parties the opportunity to resolve their disputes civilly, out of court, with lower cost and with less conflict.
Mr. Berger received his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from SUNY Binghamton in 1989 and his Juris Doctor Degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1992. Mr. Berger is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern, Northern, Western and Eastern Districts of New York, the courts of the State of New York and the District of Columbia. Mr. Berger is a member of the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
Mr. Berger is a proud Long Islander. He was born and raised on Long Island and has a deep connection with the community. He believes that Long Islanders are among the most industrious, hard working and genuinely honest people you can find. He lives on Long Island with his wife and two children.
